0300 – Got on Jeep to go to the sunrise spot. That people in
charge just simply arranged the seat. We two small people have to sit at the
front of the Jeep which there is not much seat at the front center place.
Hence, this jeep was fetching six people with 4 people sitting behind. I think
they earned a lot from this since IDR 100k/person for the jeep. If rent a jeep,
I think is only IDR 300k.
0400 – After 40 minutes journey, we reached the Mount
Penanjakan, we walked a few distance to the view point. There were a lot of
people but managed to get a view at the corner which have a tree blocking a
part of my view towards the Mount Bromo. The sun slowly appeared and it was
beautiful as the sky and cloud become orange. However, there was not much cloud
around the bromo which was not the nice to take the photo as the postcard.
0530 – We had to leave that time as the driver had informed
us earlier. When we walked down to the jeep, the other 4 westerners haven’t reached.
So we have to waited few minutes and told myself that I should not be that
punctual.

0615 – Reached the parking area of Mount Bromo. We had to walked on the sandy ground and 30 minutes to the top of Mount Bromo but the driver said 20 minutes can reach the top. There was a lot of horse carriage service that can bring until the staircase and hence need to climb few minutes of staircase to the top. Another half of the staircases are filled with black sand which was quite hard to climb up. Getting closer to the crater, the gruuullll sound become louder. There was a lot of people at the top.
As the driver said have to meet at 7:15am, we started getting down at 7am. Then reach the car park around 7:30am, we had trouble to find the jeep as the car park don’t have any sign and it is very wide area. So we find jeep from left side until right side then all others were waiting for us.

0830 – After bathed and packing, we went to the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast buffet which is included. There were free flow coffee or tea, toast, fried rice, fried noodle and egg roll. So, we took a lot of food to eat since we need to continue the long journey.

0930 – Departed from Cemoro Lawang. After one and half hour journey of descent the hill, we reached the Probolinggo, the travel agents brief about the ijen tour. We paid for IDR 150k/person for the blue fire tour. This tour will start at 2am to reach the ijen crater as early as possible to view the blue fire. This tour fee include the guide and gas mask. After briefing, we continued the journey in a better van.
1400 – Stopped at a restaurant. Instead of going in this restaurant, Some of us crossed the road to the opposite local small warung which had cheaper food to eat. I helped the westerner to translate some of the Indonesian and ordered for them. The driver stopped for an hour here.
1730 – The van stopped at a place where we can view the Mount Ijen from the far away. I saw that a mountain had a lot of smoke coming out from the top hence I assumed that this is the Mount Ijen.

1800 – Reached Catimor Homestay. After checked in room, we went out of the homestay to find something to eat. The food outside was quite expensive. We should eat noodle cups to save cost here.
1700 – Sleep early as tomorrow need to wake up at 1230am!
