The journey to Chiang Mai from Chiang Rai took 3 hours and 15 minutes. There is an hour of hilly road while the rest of the journey is flat road.

We reached Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 3 at 2pm. We had the lunch at a local restaurants nearby the terminal. Since this bus terminal is quite far from the town center or the city in the fort, we took the red songthaew. At first, a lady quoted us 150B for a private songthaew to our hostel near the Chang Puak Gate (North Gate). But we wanted shared songthaew and there is written fixed price of 30B/person. Then another driver come offered us 40B/person since he said that 30B is only until the Tad Pae gate (East gate). At last, we sat his songthaew. There are 13 peoples including us sitting in the songthaew. One is standing while other 12 sit on the 2 benches. This songthaew traveled round the fort clockwise from the Tad Pae gate. Other passengers dropped of at half way. We dropped of at the main road where near to our hostel. The hostel that we booked are Kozy House Hostel. The fan dorm bed is 100B/night while air cond dorm bed is 150B/night. Since it is cold season now, there is no reason to stay in air cond dorm.
