金琦之旅 Amazing Voyage: Indochina Day 28 : Bus from Don Det to Pakse

We booked the bus to Pakse via our guesthouse owner, Mr Phao yesterday(50000kip/person). After we had the breakfast, we just waited at the guesthouse until 11am. The bus is scheduled to leave at 12pm from Ban Nakasang Bus Terminal. At 11am sharp, Mr. Phao's son prepared the sampan for two of us. On the way to go to Ban Nakasang, we saw there were other boats occupied by the travellers. We felt like we were on the private boat. This is good as we don't need to walked to the Don Det Boat area which will take 20 minutes. It will be very tiring when walk with heavy backpacks. However, the sampan didn't stop at the proper landing area. We had to cross three sampan to get on to the shore which is very hard for us as we had to balance on the sampans with the heavy backpacks. After that, he just told us to follow other travelers to find that bus counter. While walking on the main street of the Ban Nakasang, we had no idea where to found the bus counter. After that, there is people calling for the green ticket where we were holding. This was also the place that I exchanged the money for 8300LAK/USD.

After waiting for 20 minutes in the bus counter, we were called to walked towards the bus terminal which is 5 minutes walk. After get on the bus, we finally sit on the proper bus and not the minivan as the bus seat is much comfortable than minivan. This journey took 2.5-3 hours to go to Pakse. The bus stop once for short break only.

Bus to Pakse

1500 - Reached the Pakse town. The bus stopped at the town center which is very convenience to us. We just walked 5 minutes to the booked hostel, Downtown Pakse. This hostel is owned by the foreigner, i think is European too. We stayed at the dorm room (USD5/person/night). After left the bag, we went out to find the lunch. We were quite shock as the meal here is quite expensive. The average price of a fried rice with chicken or pork cost 20,000kip! At last, we found a cheap meal at the Pizza Boy which is just beside the Lamkhan Hotel.

After that, we just walked around the town. At night, we had our fruit shake for dinner only at the Pizza Boy because we were still full since the late lunch.
