Philippines Day 21 Manila : Jeepney in Manila - Intramuros – Fort Santiago – SM Mall Of Asia and Fireworks.

0500 – Reached Ohayami Terminal at the Sampaloc in the early morning. The hostel that we booked is Wanderers Guest House which is located at the Malate, Pasay. We cannot go there by taking the transit as the big backpacks are not allowed to carry into the station. Hence, we tried to go there by taking the jeepney.

We used the app called Sakay.ph to find the jeepney route in the Manila. For this time, the jeepney that show for the direction from Sampaloc to Malate is Vito Cruz. Hence, we took this jeepney at the main road and cost PHP12/person. We successfully reached the Malate and walked to the guesthouse. This guesthouse allow us to check in early as there are many empty room available.

1000 –  After bathed, we left the room and walked to the Intramuros. The walk took about 20 minutes to get there. At the south entrance of the Intramuros, there is a place where walking through the wooden bridge to a old fort garden which is nice to take photo. In the Intramuros, the most famous is the San Agustin Church which is built 400 years ago. There is a museum inside but the admission fee is very expensive (Adult:PHP200, Student:PHP160). Hence, we didn’t enter the museum. Continue walking towards the north, the next famous place is the Manila Cathedral. We enter the cathedral and saw that there was a wedding ceremony. Hence, we just sit inside and chill awhile.

We continued walking towards north direction and reached the Fort Santiago (Adult:PHP75, Student:PHP50). The visit to this is quite worth as the complex is quite large. There is also a museum that have a lot information about the Philippino Hero Jose Rizal.

1400 – We had the lunch at the Chowking. The next plan is just visit the SM Mall of Asia. To getting there, I tried to find the route with Sakay.ph. This time I use another website that can find jeepney route which is Tripbarker.com. Then I exit the Intramuros at the northeast side and wait for the Baclaran-Escolta Jeepney. But there is no jeepney writing the Escolta word. The jeepney that we found is only Divisora and writing the SM City Mall. Hence we thought this is the jeepney that we should take. Hence, we took it and only cost PHP8/person. But after the jeepney travelled awhile, it stop and point to us that there is the way to SM City. We didn’t see any SM word but only the jeepney. Then we thought is to take another jeepney to the Mall Of Asia. Then we asked again another jeepney and take same direction jeepney. However, this jeepney didn’t understand English much. Hence, I just look at the offline map and prepared to call “Para Po”. We get off the jeepney at the intersection of Roxas Blvd and EDSA. Then walked towards the Mall of Asia.

After that, we just walked around the entertainment area and bought some thing in the SM hypermarket. To go back to the hostel, the sakay.ph show another type of transport that can travel with just one transport that there is no need to change another jeepney. It was UV express which is a van and work like a air-conditioned jeepney. The direction that we took is towards the Fairview. After get on the van, we paid PHP40/person instead of PHP30/person that show in the app. The van dropped us at the Pedro Gil station which we need to walked back for 10 minutes to reached the hostel.
