Philippines Day 3 : Van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido

0900 – Wake up late as nothing much to do as we also don’t want to go to the Puerto Princesa Museum as mostly is the traded ceramics and old artefacts. After breakfast, we went to NCCC again to bought some cup noodles as I think the food in El Nido will be expensive.

1030 – Checked out the room and walked to the Jolibee there to take the Jeepney towards the New Market Terminal (PHP13/person). After reached the terminal, we was approached by many people and asked whether we want to go El Nido. I walked away and towards the Van area. Since the next departure time I checked for the Lexxus shuttle van is 1pm which had a long time to wait, I decided to asked other company. Just not far from the van area entrance gate, there were still many people approached us. Then I asked back one company that have a good looking van. The price is only PHP400/person to go to El Nido and it was departing at that time. So we just get on it which left the last row seat which is a 4 person seats. The inner condition is better than the Lexxus Shuttle van.
After departed, the van driver drove into a small bumpy road which I think maybe he is taking shortcut. But he was actually taking his wife. After, the van continue on the main street to El Nido and we’re sleeping again. It was quite hard to sleep as the road is bumpy and curvy and we’re seating at the last row.
First try with jeepney

1330 – The van stopped at a restaurant for 20-30 minutes for passenger having the lunch. Initially, we just wanted to walk around the restaurant. Then we saw the food in the shelf that had been cooked and put on the plate. Then we tried to call one portion of rice with fried chicken and a vege. It was PHP145 which consider expensive to us. But we saw locals able to eat this standard of meal.
After 30 minutes, the van continued the Journey. We’re not sleeping again this time but watching the show and news that I just downloaded in the morning. Along the way, there were some people get off from the van. When the another two last row passenger get off, the last row 4 seats was ours and we can sit and sleep with wide space. There were also people get on the van and luckily no one come to sit at the last row.
Van stopped here for lunch if you want.

Rice with a chicken and vege. PHP145!

Still use system barter??

1630 – Reached the Corong-corong terminal in El Nido. The accommodation that I booked is Mikee Pension which is not far from the terminal. Then we decided to walk as we didn’t see any jeepney but many tricycles. After reached around the area, this hostel was hard to find. After we asked people, we just saw the signboard which is just opposite the place we asked. When checked-in, our room was free upgraded to family room with private toilet as the owner make a mistake that our budget double room had been taken for a night. So we had to move the room tomorrow. After left the thing, we went out and try to find the cheap tour and bike. There are almost every shop and hotel provide the tour booking. After asked for many shop, we know that some tour include the eco-tourism fee but other don’t and other include the snorkel gear but other don’t. So it is hard to decide which one is good. After had a ham burger as dinner, we continued asked other shop. Finally, we booked our tour A at our hostel as this hostel provide this boat tour only for those stay in this hostel. Hence, it will be less than 10 people for a boat. We also got the discounted price from PHP1400 to PHP 1200 include the Eco-tourism and snorkelling gear. While other that should be include are the life vest, water and lunch.

This is El Nido!

El Nido in night

We had the ham burger as mostly the burger is beef in the town. The vege is another more expensive price :(

The grilled seafood restaurant

The red sausage is the chicken meat PHP20 and the satay is pork PHP10

After that, we walked and shopped something in the town and eat some food. We went back to the hostel rest and prepared for tomorrow.
