Indonesia Jawa and Bali Travel Tip, Recommended Places and Entrance fee

Transport

BRT system

Only in Jakarta (Transjakarta) and Yogyakarta (Transjogja)
Card costs                      :IDR20k
Minimum top up            :IDR20k
Transjakarta per trip      :IDR4.5k
Transjogja per trip         :IDR3.7k

The fare is fixed for any distance. It is worth to travel for longer distance like going to Taman Mini. Each station which is called Halte located quite far from each other.
Transjakarta covered wide area while Transjogja is just inside the Yogyakarta town.
For Transjakarta:
- There is cabin and seat for female only and man have to move behind.
- The bus number and alphabet on the bus doesn’t always go to the direction that stated on the board. There is a person holding the small sign board that indicate the correct direction in each bus.

Train

There are three classes:
1. Economy – Straight seatback for 6 passengers/row (Each side 3 passenger facing the others 3 person in the opposite). Usually for short distance.
2. Business – Slanted fixed seatback for 4 passengers/row (Each side 2 passenger without separator, facing the back of the seat in front)
3. Executive – Adjusted seatback for for 4 passengers/row (Each passenger have their own seat, facing the back of the seat in front)

Need to print the booking ticket and scan at the check in kiosk to get the orange ticket.
If you buy at the counter, they will give you blue ticket. When check in, need to change to orange ticket at the check in counter.

Scooter

Rent in Bandung             : Yamaha Mio, IDR100k/day from the local (The period that I rent was peak season, avoid it that not much motor choice)
Rent in Yogyakarta         : Scoopy, IDR 60k/day from the Guesthouse
Rent in Bali                      : Honda Beat, IDR 50k/day for more than a week from Bali Jaya Tours (Free sending and pick up in various of place in Denpasar and Kuta like Ubung bus terminal and airport)
Best for long ride : Scoopy (However, the scoopy I rent have a lot of problem, check the light,tyre and throttle carefully before rent)
Best for storage   : Honda Beat (Can store my snorkelling mask, snorkel and a 1.5 liter water bottle inside)

Parking

Most place need to paid the parking fee.
At the tourist area          : IDR2k – 5k for motor.
In the town                      : IDR1k-2k even you parked in front of the normal shop.
Parking at the convenience store is free from the Customer. “Gratis” is free in Indonesian.

Angkut

Anywhere in Indonesia except Bali.
This is a local used transport and hence it is cheap but need to ask local for which to take and the direction.
The fare is around IDR 2000k to 10000k depends on the distance.


Places in Jawa and Bali that I travelled and recommended

Sunrise               
- Best - Mount Sekunir, Dieng (30 minuters climbing from the basecamp and stand above cloud)
- Mount Penanjakan for Mount Bromo, Probolinggo
- Punthuk Setumbu, Yogyakarta (Not worth)

Sunset
- Best - Jurang Tembeleng, Yogyakarta (Breathtaking view from the mountain)
- Tanah Lot, Bali
- Kuta Beach, Bali

Waterfalls
- Best - Sekumpul Waterfall, Bali(A group of tall waterfall)
- Tegenungan Waterfall, Bali (Double rainbow in the afternoon)
Other than waterfall in Bali, Jawa have beautiful waterfall like Madakaripura waterfall but it locates very far from Probolinggo town which is near to the Mounr Bromo.

Crater
- Best - Ijen Crater, Banyuwangi (Blue fire and breathtaking view but need the climing early for 2 hours)
- White Crater, Bandung
- Sikidang Crater, Dieng

Beach
- Best – Parangtritis Beach, Yogyakarta (Fine black sand)
- Sundak Beach, Yogyakarta
- Thomas Beach, Bali (Not crowded)
- Kuta Beach, Bali

Snorkelling
- Best – Jemeluk Bay, Amed (Suitable for beginner, no need to follow tour)
- Japanese Shipwreck, Amed (No need to follow tour)

Water Sport

- Parasailing, Benoa, Bali (Quite Cheap, IDR 110k)
- Ayung water rafting, Bali (Booked from the Soca House which cost only IDR 250k)

Rice Terrance
- Best – Jatiluwah (Less tourist)
- Tegellalang

Museums
- Best – Geological Museum, Bandung (Let you understand about the Earth and volcano)
- National Museum, Jakarta
- Kailrasa Museum, Dieng
- Ullen Sentalu Museum, Yogyakarta

Theme Park
- Best – Floating Market Lembang, Bandung
- Farm House Susu, Bandung
- Taman Mini, Jakarta
- Chinatown, Bandung


Photo Spot
- Best – Sumur Gumuling, Taman Sari, Yogyakarta (Amazing and simple architecture)
- Borobudur, Yogyakarta
- Puncak Becici, Hutan Pinus, Yogyakarta
- Bukit Pandang, Dieng (View on top to Telaga Warna)
