金琦之旅 Amazing Voyage: Thailand Day 5 : Buatong Waterfall - Sunday Walking Street

Today is new year eve. There are many shops closed include the restaurant. We hardly find any meal to eat. Hence, we just wandered around to find the breakfast. We had our breakfast at a chicken rice shop.

Chicken Rice, 40-50B

0930 - We headed to the Buatong waterfall which is located 58km from the Chiang Mai town center. The road is quite congested for the first half journey as it is still a city area. After a right turn at an intersection, it is small scenic road with some curve road. Near to the waterfall, there are more sharp curve.

1130 - Reached the waterfall. The entrance is free. There were many locals and foreigners. This waterfall is so special that can walk or climb on the waterfall since it is not slippery. It also called sticky waterfall. First, we walked down through the stair to the middle level. Then walk down through the waterfall to the lowest part. It is beautiful at the lowest area. After that, climb the waterfall all the way up.

0200 - After having some snack, we departed back to Chiang Mai town.

0330 - After bath at the hostel, we headed to find some late lunch. Since there are many shops closed. We just rode around the town to find the lunch. At last, we found the Araan Rai Restaurant which is famous for the curry.

0500 - We parked near the Tha Pae Gate. There were many people around the Tha Pae gate square. The sunday night market is just inside of the Tha Pae Gate. This walking street is so huge that the main street is almost two third of the length of the fort. There are many branches for the walking street. Maybe today is New Year Eve, there is most stall opening. At the three kingdoms monuments, there was a countdown festival and there had a lot of food stall nearby.

0900 - After spending 3 hours in this walking street, we went back to the gate. It was so crowded that people were stuck at the gate since there were many lanterns release at the gate. After watching the lantern release, we walked back to the countdown festical to enjoy and wait until 2018.
